Blogging has definitely taken a back seat over the past several years. I never did write for an audience, but rather for the catharsis. Life has moved at a break neck pace the last few years. When we got home from Korea, we brought the Korean work ethic back with us. Barry and I both worked multiple jobs. We had several months of "homelessness" and we were getting the kids settled into a school a few counties over. We ended up building a sweet little house in a cul-de-sac. It was a great 5 years. We entered teenage years about the time we moved into that house. Rough waters. Nothing could've prepared me for it. We're still in it really. I feel like the worst is behind us, but our youngest is a 17 year old boy right now, so...
Anyway, the season we're in now started with a move in January 2018 to a 17 acre farm in Athens. After living in the bustling metropolis of Seoul, South Korea, Barry and I had a longing for land. Georgia-born and raised, we both have a natural affinity for trees, grass, and fresh air. Life in the city only made that fondest grow. I remember walking land that was for sale on one of our visits back to the states. Owning land became this unshakeable longing for Barry and I. Our new house in the neighborhood was lovely. We had a very private lot and 2 acres, but our appetite for more land only grew.
Eventually, I bought chickens. I hid them in teh corner of our lot. That particular corner butted up agains two neighbors that didn't live in the actual neighborhood. Both of them had animals.
